The Bryce Update

Although our blog is entitled "The Waite Update", I should probably change it to "The Bryce Update", because that's mostly what it is. You might find Jarett and I in a picture here or there, but we just can't compete with an adorable face like this!

Making messes is what Bryce does best!
Busted!
Here's Bryce with his adorable cousins. As you can see, he's a little outnumbered right now, but he's got two boy cousins on the way who'll be here early next year.

The proud Mama with her son.
Bryce and uncle Mitch always have fun together.

Cheerio boy!

Bryce and I went to Idaho to visit Jarett's family while Jarett was at a conference in Las Vegas. We had a wonderful time, as always. Bryce's favorite pastime was playing with the cat door, and with a little help he finally made it through to the other side.

Here's Bryce with Grandma and Grandpa Waite.

Jarett and I made a mini float for our Swiss Days parade, complete with a pioneer lady riding a rocket (don't ask for an explanation--we have none). The parade would have been great, except it poured, and I mean poured, rain the entire time. Poor Jarett was drenched, but he didn't look half as bad as our pioneer!

Bryce has lots of fun playing with (or mauling, as it may look to some) our pets. At least the chinchillas are caged, so they're protected from the wrath of Bryce. Auggie (our white cat) usually runs and hides when she sees Bryce approaching her, but Tica (seen below) is always up for a little wrestling match.

Bath time! (one of Bryce's favorite times of the day)

And that's Bryce! Thanks for letting us show him off to you!

Halloween

Here's our little dragon on Halloween. Jarett had to work all night, so we went in and visited him at Laser Mania. Bryce had fun romping around in his walker, and the customers got a kick out of watching him.

My how time flies! A lot has happened in the 5 1/2 months since I last posted on our blog (sorry to all of those who have been waiting so patiently!). I suppose I'll start with an update on the baby, since he's the funnest. It's hard to believe that the little 7 lb. 5 oz. boy I held in my arms 7 months ago is now almost 20 lbs, has 2 teeth, and is crawling all over the place! Bryce is such a happy, bright, fun little guy--it's been an absolute delight watching him grow and develop. Some of his favorites include; going for walks, playing peek-a-boo, eating (anything!), romping around in his walker, drinking out of water bottles, taking baths, listening to mom play her harp, and going to Laser Mania.

We've had so many "firsts" over the last few months. Here are just a few of them.
First time swimming...

First time eating rice cereal....

First time watching fireworks on the 4th of July....
Every summer my family goes to Oceanside, California and camps at the beach for a week. Bryce didn't enjoy swimming very much (the water was pretty cold), but he had lots of fun watching the waves and eating the sand. We found souvenirs of the beach for several days after we got home every time we changed a poopy diaper. So, here's Bryce's first "beach week"....

For those of you who don't know, in addition to running Laser Mania, Jarett also runs an online store called Packrat Video Games. He basically manufactures and sells new games for old systems (Atari and Odyssey), mostly for collectors. We've been to several trade shows all around the U.S., and a few weeks ago we went to a show in Las Vegas. It was Bryce's first Packrat trade show....

A big first for Jarett, and I is that we bought our first house! My dad built it and made us an offer we couldn't refuse, so we are officially homeowners! We feel very blessed to be in such a beautiful new home, and it's nice having room to spread out a little. The house is about 2200 sq. ft., and has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The part that's most exciting for me is that I finally have a dishwasher and a washer and dryer of my very own! Life is good!

This is the latest addition to our family--Tica (the calico cat). Although it took a little while for Auggie (the white cat) to warm up to Tica, she has enjoyed having a new playmate. In case you're wondering "Auggie" means "baby" in Korean, and "Tica" is a Costa Rican woman.

Jarett has been working hard for the past year to make Laser Mania (our family entertainment center) bigger and better. His hard work is paying off--sales for this year have dramatically increased when compared to the last 2 years. In addition to making lots of improvements to the facility itself, Jarett has done some grassroots advertising, such as building floats for the last 2 parades St. George has had. Our float even won 2 awards (the Chamber award, and the 1st place Commercial Award) in the last parade we were in.

I've been pretty busy as well. I finished my internship in February, spent a couple of months studying, and then took and passed the dietetics exam in April. A week later I started my first job as a Registered Dietitian at WIC (Women Infants and Children). I only work about 10 hours a week, so I don't have to be away from Bryce for too long, and luckily Jarett can watch him when I'm at work. It's been nice being able to use my degree and education, and I really enjoy working for WIC--but my favorite job is still being a mom!

So, that's the update! We're happy, healthy, and doing great. Life just keeps getting better! We hope you're all doing good as well. Feel free to stop by and try out our guest room any time you'd like--our door is always open!
